Healthy Breakfast Smoothies

Smoothies have been a popular trend for quite some time now and are made to help with weight loss, eliminating toxins, building your immunity system, sleeping habits, meal replacement, and a host of other health related benefits. They are my primary choice for a quick and satisfying breakfast when I am on the go because they help me feel full and also keeps my cravings under control. If you want to create smoothies, all you need is a base recipe to start from and then let your creative juices flow. It's another reason to keep fresh fruits and vegetables in your refridgerator.

Base ingredients for making smoothies:

1. Fruit and/or vegetables

2. Liquid (i.e. water, milk, tea, juice)

3. Thickeners (i.e. nut butters, yogurt, chia seeds, oats, ice)

4. Flavoring or sweeteners (i.e. honey, maple syrup, herbs, extracts)

5. Superfoods (i.e. protein powder, spirulina, flaxseeds, probiotics)

Smoothies don't have to be tasteless and boring and can be made using pantry and refrigerator staples you have in your kitchen right now.

Here is the recipe for one of my go to breakfast smoothies:

Equipment

2. Blend until smooth.

3. Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
